NatureSpot has teamed up with Leicestershire County Council to produce a set of 22 colourful guides to Leicestershire's wonderful wildlife. More...
The guides are available for free from the NatureSpot website. They are designed to help identify many of the common species in gardens, parks and the wider countryside. In total 210 different species are featured, covering all types of wildlife, including birds, mammals, butterflies, dragonflies, wildflowers, trees and fungi. There are also guides to the wildlife in woodlands, hedgerows and compost heaps.
We have selected wildlife species that are all common and regularly encountered. Some will be familiar but there are lots that most people can't recognise. By learning what these are it adds so much more interest to our contact with the natural world. Every species has a fascinating life story so once we can give it a name we have a peg to hang the knowledge on.
