An amazing 101 new species were added to the NatureSpot species library during April. More...
The total number of species now covered is 2,371 with moths leading the way with 579 different species included. Every species page includes photographs taken in Leicestershire and Rutland as well offering information on how to recognise it, where and when to see it and how common or rare it is in the UK and in our area. The maps displayed on each species page link directly to the National Biodiversity Network database so are constantly updated.
Eagle-eyed visitors may have spotted a link just below the NBN maps which opens a different map - this time showing all the records submitted to NatureSpot. Nearly 9,000 sightings have already been logged, helping to build a better picture of what lives here. All our records are shared with the Leicestershire and Rutland Records Office and made available to specialist recording schemes.
